A TRIP down memory lane has proved very popular for former ICI workers.
Former instrument technician Selwyn Hansford started a Facebook page to share memories and photographs and has been overwhelmed by the response.
The 60-year-old is organising a reunion on Friday, June 2 at the former ICI Weston Recreation Club, now called The Pavilions Club, on Sandy Lane.
Selwyn, who was 16 when he started his instrument apprenticeship at Rocksavage, said: ”We’ve had a great response. We have well over 400 members young and old.
“There should be a good turn out for our reunion.
“We’re hoping to reach as many as possible to relive golden memories and reacquaint old work mates.”
In its heyday, chemical giant ICI employed more than 6,000 people at Rocksavage works.
The plant was built in 1938 and by 1960 the company was the biggest industrial employer in Runcorn and Widnes.
