BEECHWOOD netball club in Runcorn is celebrating a hat-trick.

Three of their junior teams have soared to success in a spate of competitions.

Hailstorm are Cheshire junior league premier division champions for years five and six.

Tornado won the years nine, 10 and 11 division one competition.

Heatwave came first in years seven and eight division one.

The club have five adult teams which were founded in 2004 and currently have 12 junior teams for children aged seven to 16.

The club’s Sharon Bignall said: “We train at St Chad’s Catholic and Church of England High School and offer fitness training, netball training and social pathway for players who become friends and have lasting friendships.”

The girls are trained by a team of 12 coaches led by head coach Melanie Morris and her assistant Jenny Bignall.

They both coach for Cheshire Netball.

Coach Sarah Stinchcombe recently completed a level two coaching award.

Junior members are being encouraged to become qualified umpires.

Sharon added: “The club are supported by a committee, who along with the coaches are all volunteers to ensure we offer sport in the community to engage girls and keep them fit, healthy and also learn to be part of a team and club that supports each other and keeps the girls active during their teenage years.”

The 12 junior teams are named Beechwood Thunderbolts, Storm, Blizzard, Hailstorm, Heatwave, Thunder, Hurricane, Tornado, Lightning, Under 14s, Cyclone and Blaze.

A new team called Tsunami have just been formed.

Thunder were years seven and eight premier division runners up.

The years nine and 10 Lightning side were runners up in the ladies premier division.

The years eight and nine teams have qualified for and been competitively playing in the regional league.
