FAMILIES are invited to enjoy a wild west day out at Norton Priory Museum and Gardens.

The historic tourist attraction is hosting a fun-filled camping challenge on bank holiday Monday, May 1.

Children can have a go at campfire cooking and fire lighting with a bushcraft guide.

Families will be challenge to see who can make the best den.

There will be the chance to pan for gold, topple tin cans, follow trails and try various crafts.

Youngsters can make their own cowboy hat and moustaches.

Learning and community manager Susan Brownrigg said: “Ride on down for bushcraft fun on the Norton Priory frontier!

“Join the sheriffs for a golden day out. See who’s got the fastest bean bag in town, eat your picnic in the ‘saloon’ and follow the horseshoe trail through the woodlands.”

Crafts and trails take place at the museum. Campfire and bushcraft activities will be held at the walled garden.

Campfire activities are run in timed sessions. Visitors can book on arrival on the day.

Norton Priory museum is open from 10am to 5pm. Activities take place from 11am to 4pm at the museum and walled garden.

Usual admission prices apply – there is no additional cost for family activities.
