A DRAGON boat race is set to make a splash for a very good cause.

Staff from Halton and Warrington Hospitals will be competing in a fun-filled event to raise money for the hospital charity's Children’s Ward Making Waves campaign.

The race is open to everyone and businesses and companies are encouraged to enter teams.

Stephen Bennett, head of transformation at the hospital, said: "The transformation team here has recently been established with the aim of driving innovation, delivering improvement and supporting change.

“The trust and its associated charity exist to provide healthcare for a large number of patients, employment for over 3,000 staff and support for a large number of businesses and external organisations in and around Warrington and Halton.

"We believe that if every single person connected with this organisation was able to give back some support either financially or even just through giving their time, the possibilities for the organisation could be endless and our staff and communities in and around Warrington and Halton could help create a healthcare facility they are truly proud of.”

The team will be supporting Warrington and Halton Hospitals charity (WWH) to transform the children’s ward.

The campaign hopes to re-vamp the paediatrics outdoor play area to give young patients and visitors fresh air and somewhere to either relax or let off steam.

The outdoor play area will be situated in one of the courtyards accessed off B11.

The event will be from 10am until 2pm on June 18 at Manley Mere, near Frodsham.
