A PENSIONER was incensed to discover white gloss paint daubed all over the street outside his Runcorn home.

Retired John Parry says it has caked the wheels of his new black Nissan car and damaged his neighbours’ vehicles in Halton Brook.

He believes the paint had been left outside a property undergoing refurbishment by Riverside contractors.

“I saw tins of paint left in the road three weeks ago,” said Mr Parry, of Penfolds, who discovered the vandalism on Thursday evening.

“I phoned Riverside and told them about it. Contractors were working on a house and drove off leaving the paint behind.

“It is tantamount to fly tipping.”

Mr Parry said the paint had damaged the tyres and the underside of his car.

Adele Livesey, Riverside head of asset management for Liverpool City Region, said: “We are very sorry to hear about the damage to cars after paint was thrown across the road.

“One of our officers was at the scene on the night it happened to assess the damage and talk to the residents affected. Sand was also put over the paint on the road to avoid further damage to vehicles.

“An internal investigation is now underway to determine how this incident came about.

“If it is proven that Riverside was at fault we will have no hesitation in reimbursing residents for new tyres and any associated clean-up costs.

“We are working with the residents to resolve this matter. We have written to all those involved providing contact details and requesting any additional information that will help in our enquiries relating to this matter.”
