CHILDREN will be marking Father’s Day with a special fundraising event.

Youngsters will be taking part in Child Bereavement UK’s Dash for Dad at Runcorn Hill Park on Sunday, June 18.

It is the first time the charity has chosen this venue and hope as many families as possible will join in.

Youngsters can take part in either 1k or 2k challenges.

Last year Astmoor Primary School pupils Lucas Kavanagh and his sister Bethany were among children supporting the event.

They ran in the fun run the year before with older sisters Danielle and Sophie.

Bethany said: “Running in memory of my dad was special and made me feel proud.”

The charity supports families when a baby or child of any age dies or is dying or when a child is facing bereavement.

Runners are invited to meet at the visitor centre on Highlands Road at 10am. Race entry is £3. To register visit dashfordad.org.uk.
