FANS of 90s music have raised more than £3,000 for Halton Haven Hospice.

Three friends teamed up to form Oldskool Haven and organised two events.

Simon Maddock and Simon Wainwright, both from Brookvale, and Andy Kemp wanted to support the Runcorn cancer centre.

They raised £1,800 at the first evening in Canalside six months ago and have just donated a further £1,350 from another night at The Heath Business and Technical Park.

Runcorn dad Simon Wainwright, 43, of Saltash Close, said: “We have six DJs playing and more than 300 people attended our last event.

“This music is really popular, tickets sell out in three days.”

Simon, who is waiting for major spinal surgery, said fundraisers are keen to support this charity.

“The hospice and their staff are fantastic,” he said. “They rely on donations and we wanted to give something back.

“They also offer a lot of support to families and bereaved relatives.”

Hospice events manager Ciaran Clotworthy said: "We can't thank you guys enough. It's support like this that keeps the hospice alive."

The trio plans to stage another event at Halloween. Details will be announced nearer the time.
