RUNCORN Rotary Club had to abandon plans to promote their purple polio appeal as Storm Doris raged through the town.
Volunteers were running a fundraising stall at Runcorn railway station when winds whipped through the platform and the West Coast line was closed on February 23.
However, they were welcomed back by Cheryl Gumbs and her Virgin staff team and collected £55.25 towards polio eradication.
The club also mounted two displays of purple crocus at Runcorn Town Hall to highlight their campaign.
