DETECTIVES searching for a man wanted on suspicion of a serious assault in Runcorn arrested a 19-year-old man with the help of the police helicopter yesterday, Sunday.
He was later released after being questioned in custody with no further action.
Police are continuing to investigate the incident which occurred at around 5.30pm on Tuesday, April 4.
A 37-year-old man was walking along the Bridgewater Canal from the Runcorn Spur when he was approached by two men and attacked.
The assault happened as he walked under a bridge.
The man attended Halton Hospital to be treated for his injuries and was later discharged.
