A PUB costing £3 million has opened in Runcorn, creating 45 new jobs.

It is hoped Ten Lock Flight pub, beside The Brindley, will help invigorate the long awaited regeneration of the old town.

Named after the 10 flights of locks on the Bridgewater Canal that historically connected the River Mersey to the east of the Runcorn Gap, it is a nod to Halton’s heritage.

Many waterway features have been incorporated into the interior design of the Marston’s Inn and Taverns pub.

Halton Mayor and Mayoress of Halton, Councillor Ged Philbin and Ros Wong, council leader Cllr Rob Polhill and Cllr Ron Hignett, joined a ribbon cutting ceremony.

Manager Adam Williams said: “We are really excited to show our new pub off.

“The interest has already been overwhelming. It is great to have that kind of positive response from locals already.”

The development is built on the former Crosville bus dept site alongside the canal.

It took six months to construct and includes an open plan pizza kitchen and restaurant.
