TWO Runcorn companies are celebrating after being commended at the High Sheriff of Cheshire Enterprise Awards.

Kawneer UK Ltd won the award for responsible business practice.

The judging panel was looking for organisations that demonstrate a high standard of commitment in the way in which they organise and integrate their responsible business practices.

Managing director Phil Randles said: “We are immensely proud and pleased to receive this award which reflects the many hours of commitment given by our employees to helping improve the local community and environment.

“Over the last 10 years, with the help of the Arconic Foundation our charitable giving arm, Kawneer UK has been able to support local charities with donations of more than £320,000 and our employees have given over 3,000 hours of service.” Kawneer UK, based on Astmoor Industrial Estate, received £3,000 in prize money.

Tall Security Print on Manor Park was highly commended in the Cheshire exporter of the year category.

Lynton Buxton, the company’s group marketing manager, said: “Each year these awards are designed to showcase and celebrate the accomplishments of businesses of all shapes and sizes across the north west.

“It was a fantastic ceremony and we are extremely proud to have been highly commended by such a prestigious panel of judges.”

Tall Security Print group finance director Bill Lamb, pre-press director Brian Evison, group marketing manager Lynton Buxton and commercial executive Phil Burnell joined more than 350 guests for the ceremony at Chester Racecourse on March 23.

High Sheriff of Cheshire Kathy Cowell said: “It was a delight to host these business awards.

“There were some clear recurring themes such as standards, quality, total focus on the customer and passion.”

The High Sheriff thanked guests for raising £2,000 on the night for Cheshire Crimebeat.
