TWO suspects were arrested at a Runcorn pub after police seized a quantity of drugs.

Around 25 local and specialist officers raided Bar Bananas on High Street in the old town on Friday after executing a search warrant.

A 68-year-old man from Widnes was arrested on suspicion of possession of a Class B drug.

John Owen, of Albert Road, has since been charged with the offence and released on bail. He is due to appear at North Cheshire Magistrates’ Court on April 19, 2017.

A 26-year-old man from Runcorn was arrested and given a caution for possessing a Class A drug.

Inspector Michael Skillen, of Runcorn Local Policing Unit, said: “This was a successful warrant resulting from information provided to us by the local community.

“I would like to thank those who came forward and to reassure the public that we will continue to act on information given to us in our fight to reduce drugs and make our community a safer place to live.”
