RUNCORN pupils have held their first United Nations (UN) convention.
Children at Woodside Primary School split up into teams to represent various countries including the UK, Russia, France and Germany.
Throughout the day, the youngsters was presented with various resolutions to debate.
They had to decide which aspects of the resolution they agreed or disagreed with.
The year six class was allowed to make changes and lobby other nations to support their amendments.
Just like the UN, the children had to resolve various crisis situations.
Teacher Javan Spark said: The class absolutely loved the day and were very involved throughout.
“I was so proud of the effort they had put in in the lead up to the event. “I was amazed by their commitment and professionalism. They showed themselves to be very capable and thoughtful delegates of the UN.
“We intend to do this again and hopefully invite other schools to participate.”
Halton MP Derek Twigg spoke to pupils at the end of the day about his job and what he does in Parliament.
