BRIDE-TO-BE Laura Hobley hasn’t got a minute to think about wedding day nerves.

The 31-year-old will be playing the leading lady in a musical for five nights at The Brindley - the week before she gets married.

She stars in Dolly Parton’s inspired comedy show 9 to 5, as Judy whose husband has dumped her for a 19-year-old, forcing her to start work in an office.

In real life, the piano teacher has also just started a new job working with children in various schools.

“I go to bed at night with my head spinning,” said Laura, formerly of Doward Street, Widnes.

“I’ve been rehearsing three times a week for six months. There are a lot of lines and songs to learn as well as a few dance routines.”

Laura has been treading the boards since she was a little girl and says performing is in her blood.

“I’ve always had a passion for singing, dancing and acting. All my family has done musicals.”

Her late grandad Ronnie, 89, used to entertain the troops and played the piano at his retirement home until he died earlier this year.

Brother Chris, 27, teaches drums and guitar and dad Jon also plays the piano.

Mum Debbie will be on stage with her in this Zodiac production.

“It’s a really fun show,” said Laura. “It has so much comedy.

“I make friends with two other girls who are completely fed up by the way we have been treated by men.

“We kidnap the boss and transform the office into a happier workplace.

“The music is really uplifting and makes you want to get up and dance.”

Laura met her fiancé Tom Johnson, 36, an accounts manager for Thomas Cook, at a fancy dress party.

“I was Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz and he was the super hero Flash dressed in red with a lightning bolt,” she said.

“He had a mask on the first time we met. We met the next day and I didn’t know what he looked like!”

The couple get married at Styal Lodge on Saturday, April 8.

“I’m out rehearsing three times a week so we’ve hardly seen each other,” added Laura.

“When I sit down in Italy on honeymoon with a glass of wine, I’ll probably say ‘Wow, what a whirlwind that’s been!’”

The musical runs from March 28 to April 1. To book call 0151 907 8360 or visit thebrindley.org.uk.
