SONGBIRD Nadine McGhee has vowed to continue chasing her dream – despite crashing out of ITV talent show The Voice at the quarter finals on Saturday.

The Runcorn call centre worker impressed all four celebrity judges with her haunting rendition of George Michael’s Different Corner but her mentor Sir Tom Jones chose to send duo Into The Ark to the semi finals.

The 19-year-old, from Windmill Hill, who failed to get enough public votes to be saved, said: “I was gutted at the time but it was a comfortable performance.”

The former St Berteline’s CE Primary School pupil had to learn the new ballad just four days before the live performance.

Sir Tom initially asked her to sing Ghost by Ella Henderson but changed it because he didn’t think it suited her emotional voice.

“I hadn’t even heard of this George Michael song but I really enjoyed it.”

The O2 worker said she is thrilled to have made it to the final 12.

“It was a tough competition,” she said. “I never thought I’d get to the blind audition, there were a few auditions before that.

“It’s amazing I got to sing live twice.”

Sir Tom hailed her a ‘soaring songbird’ after she she performed an emotional version of Sam Smith’s Lay Me Down in blind audition.

“You are just too good not to be on this show,” he told her.

“A soaring songbird, the vocal control you have, Nadine, surpasses your years.”

Guitarist Nadine, who has been singing in pubs and clubs since she was 14, has already been approached by professionals.

“I have had a few different management companies and record companies message me,” she said.

“The Voice has been massive platform.

“I’d love to keep going, there is no point stopping after being on a show like this.

“I have gained so many followers. I’ve never had so many fans in my life who like what I’m doing.”

A taste of fame has whet her appetite for stardom.

“It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity to meet all the coaches, four superstars. It was great experience to do live interviews on programmes like Good Morning Britain.

“They moved me into a posh apartment in London. It was amazing.”

She wants to thank everyone who voted for her and says she couldn’t have succeeded without the support of her family.

“They were proud that I got to showcase one last time who I was. I went out on a high.”
