TODDLERS at two Halton nurseries have teamed up to support children with cancer.

A director from the Early Learners Nurseries on Deacon Road, Widnes, and Lowlands Road, Runcorn is running in the London Marathon.

It is the second time Hayden McCann has taken part in the gruelling 26 mile event.

Around 300 youngsters at both nurseries have raised £2,037 in sponsorship for Children with Cancer UK, the charity he is supporting.

“The support from parents has been great,” said Hayden, 31, of Stratton Park, Widnes.

“I want to say a massive thank you to all my family, friends and most of all the children who have supported this great cause.”

The children dressed up as their favourite heroes and competed in a fun-filled sports day to raise funds.

Hayden is competing in five half marathons in the run up to the London Marathon on Sunday, April 23.

He is travelling across the country to run at Silverstone, Milton Keynes, Wilmslow, Blackpool and Sheffield.

“Training has been a lot easier this year,” added Hayden. “I’m really enjoying it.”

Early Learners, which celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2016, opened a new Runcorn nursery last year and now employs 40 staff.
