A NEW coffee shop has created six jobs for Halton residents who were unemployed.

Mangobean, a national coffee shop chain, opened at Greenoaks shopping centre on Monday.

The outlet aims to offer innovative ideas with a range of unique products and services.

Shane Saunders, who created the Mangobean concept, said: “We want to offer something different to what is already out there.

“Our coffee shops offer a fun environment where everyone can enjoy coffee that’s been freshly roasted in-store.

“Our range of non-alcoholic coffee cocktails include combinations such as an Americano with strong, sweet raspberry flavours and a spicy gingerbread flavoured coffee, the ginger ninja.”

In addition to coffee, Mangobean serves a range of specialty frappes, smoothies, and waffles as well as convenient 'grab and go' products.

Shane added: “We offer bribery cards instead of loyalty cards. We don’t preach to people about the complexity of the bean.

“If you want sugar with your coffee, you can have sugar with your coffee!

“We offer all NHS staff a 10 per cent discount on everything.”

Halton Council liaised with the company’s development agent to provide new opportunities for people who were out of work.

Six full and part-time posts have now been filled by people looking for jobs.

Franchisee John Steer said: “Widnes is my first coffee shop and is taking up all of my time making sure it is as good as it can be.

“My ambition is to have four coffee shops up and running by the end of 2018.”

Mangobean has five more coffee shops opening in the next few months with a further 15 due by the end of 2017.

The company plans to open 200 stores across the UK in the next five years.
