CHILDREN held a special ‘red’ day to boost their appeal for Widnes Foodbank.
Brookfield School in Widnes invited pupils to wear red and donate red coloured food as part of a ‘Love Is In The Air’ collection.
The school on Moorfield Road has teamed up with special schools across Merseyside to collect as much as they can for families in need until May.
Teaching assistant Sarah Woods said: “The response from parents as always was amazing.
“We got a full trolley of tomato ketchup, soups, kidney beans, red lentils and red berry juice to name just a few of the donations.”
Pupils were welcomed to the school on Friday with love themed music.
Various other special events are being held at the school to encourage people to support their appeal.
Residents can call in anytime with donations.
