SUPERMARKET staff will be stepping back to the 80s to help tackle heart disease and diabetes.

Tesco workers in Widnes will be joining 300,000 colleagues across the country to support the national charity partnership with Diabetes UK and British Heart Foundations.

Since January 2015 they have raised around £10.5 million.

A fun-filled fundraising weekend from March 3-5 will see employees bringing back the fashion and energy that made the decade so great.

Activities will include getting physical with aerobic exercise and nostalgic 80s toys, music and movies.

Pulling on the neon shorts, sweatbands and spandex, teams will be getting involved in Scalextric tournament, 80s hair days and karaoke.

Natalie Bunyan, regional account manager at national charity partnership said: “It’s a great way for Tesco colleagues to get nostalgic whilst also raising crucial funds.

“Together Diabetes UK, the BHF and Tesco are able to address and make a real impact in improving the health of the nation.

“I hope customers get involved and support the Tesco team with their fundraising as they test their physical and mental skills!

“It should be a really fun atmosphere in the store with lots going on for all ages.”
