CHILDREN discovered new skills at a fun-filled enterprise challenge.

Pupils from Runcorn primary schools took part in a business and enterprise day at Ormiston Bolingbroke Academy.

A day of activities gave the year five pupils the chance to experience team work, independent thinking, financial awareness and communication skills.

Children split into teams to design and make a product.

Business studies teachers Clare Fitzgerald and Scott Fenner teamed up with technology facility to stage the event.

Teachers and parents who accompanied the youngsters said they were impressed by their confidence and determination.

Ellie Day, from St Mary’s Primary School, said: “All of the children enjoyed the day and I feel they gained a lot from it.

“The organisation was faultless and the staff were very helpful.”

Laura Dyer, a teacher from Murdishaw West Community Primary School, said: “I felt it was a well-organised day and the children were engaged throughout.

“I have pinched a few ideas to use in class so I too found it beneficial.”

Her colleague Kathy Dennis added: “The use of an iPad to make an advert for their product definitely broadened their understanding of how to use them to present their work.”
