THE NHS health trust that runs the Brooker Centre in Runcorn and provides mental health services in Halton is planning to change its name.

Members of the public, staff and service users are invited to vote on a new name for 5 Boroughs Partnership NHS Trust.

Its current name came from the five areas where it first provided services, Halton, Knowsley, St Helens, Warrington and Wigan.

But over the last six months the trust has expanded after winning contracts to deliver services further afield and now covers 15 boroughs.

Three options have been suggested for the new name - North West Boroughs Care NHS Foundation Trust, North West Boroughs Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and Cheshire, Merseyside and Greater Manchester Care NHS Foundation Trust.

Trust chairman Bernard Pilkington said: “5 Boroughs Partnership is growing and the trust board agrees this is the right time to change our name to reflect the new-look community and mental health organisation we have become.

“We also feel strongly that our service users, carers and staff in the new boroughs we are and will be serving deserve to have a sense of belonging to an organisation which includes them within its name.”

To vote visit 5boroughspartnership.nhs.uk/name-change and complete the survey before Sunday, March 12.
