GIFTED instrumentalists and singers showcased their talents in a competition.

Runcorn secondary school pupils entered Rotary Young Musician of the Year in association with Yamaha.

Runcorn Rotary staged the local heat at Grangeway Youth Hub.

Beth Lewis played the flute and won the instrumental section.

The Ormiston Bolingbroke Academy pupil performed Les Feuilles Mortes (Autumn Leaves) and variations from serenade k361 by Mozart.

Ben Mee from The Grange School sang Alive by Sia and Man in the Mirror by Michael Jackson.

He won the vocalist section and the overall prize which had been donated by Fountains Hotel, Runcorn.

Kirsty Walker from The Grange School was runner up in the vocalist section and Demica Regan from Ormiston Bolingbroke Academy came third.

Judges were professional singer Louise Allen, Dr Damian McDermott and Runcorn Rotary President Karen Tonge MBE.

The judges were all impressed with the standard and the support given by teachers, parents and Rotarians.

The event was organised by Runcorn Rotary youth organiser Ken Tonge.

Winners Ben and Beth now compete in the district finals in Congleton on March 21.
