POLICE have stepped up enquiries into a robbery in Runcorn where two victims were attacked with sticks and poles.

Detectives have issued a second appeal following the attack on Monday, January 23, at 7.30pm.

Officers say the two victims were crossing the footbridge over the Central Expressway between Hallwood Park and Beechwood when the incident unfolded.

One of the victims was on his black Honda CRF off-road motorcycle when they were approached by two strangers and attacked.

Both victims were left with serious injuries.

One of the men is described as tall and of skinny build.

He was wearing a green jacket with black tracksuit bottoms.

The second is believed to be short, of skinny build and he was wearing a black jacket with black bottoms.

The attackers left the scene with the motorbike in the direction of the Beechwood estate.

It is thought the same bike was then seen being driven across the Runcorn Bridge at around 11pm.
