CHILDREN have amassed a huge amount of food with an Italian flavour as part of their latest charity appeal.
Pupils at Brookfield School have teamed up with special schools across Merseyside to collect donations for Widnes Foodbank until May.
Latest figures show that Widnes Foodbank provided 1,110 emergency food parcels for people in need over six months, including 300 children in need.
A Belissimo Brookfields event yesterday saw parents, families and residents donate lots of pasta and jars of sauce.
Teaching assistant Sarah Woods who is co-ordinating the collection said: “We have dropped leaflets to local residents so we hope people in the community will pop in and donate any food.”
Various themed events are being held at the school on Moorfield Road to encourage people to support their donation station.
Residents are invited to call in anytime with items of food.
