A WIDNES man is to appear in court next month following the recovery of £51,000 worth of cannabis from a property in Winsford.

Police executed a search warrant at the property on Swanlow Lane on August 8, 2016, and recovered 51 cannabis plants.

A 42-year-old man from Widnes and a 22-year-old man from the Merseyside area were arrested and bailed and have now been charged.

The 42-year-old is charged with production of cannabis, possession of criminal property and possession with intent to supply, and the 22-year-old was charged with production of cannabis.

Both will appear at Cheshire Magistrates Court on February 3.

Inspector Dave Snasdell said: “I urge any members of the public who see any premises where people are coming and going or there are funny spells or suspicious behaviour, to contact police or crimestoppers.

“Local community intelligence is vital to us in targeting drug dealers or growers.”

Anyone with information should call Cheshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
