PATIENT visiting times at Halton and Warrington Hospitals have been extended.

Longer visiting times from 12 noon until 8pm have been introduced to provide greater flexibility for family and friends.

It is hoped the move will boost patients’ morale and recovery and give relatives more time to ask questions about their care.

The new visitors’ charter asks for only two visitors per bed and requests people observe the nursing medication round from 5pm to 6.30pm.

Patient queries involving relative’s care should be addressed before 7pm to ensure the nursing handover is not interrupted.

Chief nurse Kimberley Salmon-Jamieson said: “Our priority is to provide quality care for our patients.

“Visiting times are extended in the majority of our inpatient areas to enable relatives and carers to feel more involved in the care that we provide in hospital and planning for discharge home.”

Staff say there may be occasions when visitors are asked to leave for a short period of time due to reasons of patient confidentiality or privacy and dignity.
