A SCHOOLGIRL beauty queen is through to the world final of a prestigious competition.

Ruby Hill won Teen Face of North Wales and will be up against girls aged 13-18 from all over the USA, Japan and Europe at Disneyland Paris in May.

The 13-year-old only stepped on the catwalk for the first time a year ago and has already appeared at 64 charity events and fashion shows.

Mum Claire, 40, a maths teacher at St Chad’s Catholic and CE High School where Ruby is a pupil, said: “Ruby started to compete to raise her self esteem and had no idea she would be so successful.

“It has given her the confidence to get up on stage in front of thousands of people.”

Ruby has raised £400 for the brain injury charity Headway by making craft elf doors and she supports Halton Haven Hospice.

As the face of the You’re A Star pageant, she also raises funds for Leeds Children’s Hospital.

The keen dancer and singer was voted runner up in the Model of the Year in the Natural Pageant Awards.

Dad Andrew, 39, who works for Stobart, and sister Freya, 11, are supporting Ruby as she travels all over the north west and Wales.

“We are all very proud of her,” added Claire, of Beech Road.

“Ruby is excited but nervous. We have met some amazing people.”
