SNOW showers have swept across Europe and now it looks like it is the UK's turn.
Icy temperatures have blanketed the Greek islands and southern Italy with snow in the past couple of days.
And snow showers are now expected to hit the north west of England on Wednesday evening and into Thursday.
Motorists are being warned of poor travel conditions on Thursday morning as a yellow warning of wind is also in place from 6pm on Wednesday to 12pm on Thursday.
A Met Office spokesman added: "Cold air originating over Arctic Canada will affect the area from Wednesday evening through Thursday, bringing snow showers and strong winds.
"Wind gusts up to 55 mph are expected in exposed coastal areas and on hills in association with snow showers, leading to temporary blizzard conditions.
"As well as reduced visibility, 2 to 5cm of snow could accumulate anywhere within the warning area, with 10 to 20cm possible above 300 m.
"Lightning may accompany the heaviest showers, with potential disruption to power supplies as a consequence."
The yellow warning of snow and wind is in place for areas including: Warrington, Widnes and Runcorn, Cheshire West and Chester, Greater Manchester and Merseyside.
