A TEENAGE student seriously injured in a suspected stabbing at a college in Widnes is now recovering at home.

The 17-year-old was taken to Aintree University Hospital on Wednesday where his condition was described as ‘serious’ after an incident at Riverside College.

Police have confirmed that three 17-year-old boys have been charged with a range of offences following an alleged attack in a classroom on Kingsway.

One boy has been charged with wounding with intent and resisting arrest while the other two face charges for wounding with intent and possessing a bladed article.

All three have been remanded in custody and are due to appear at either Liverpool or Chester Crown Court on December 22.

The charges relate to an incident at 1.45pm on Wednesday when police received reports of a disturbance at Riverside College in Kingsway.

Officers found a 17-year-old student with serious injuries.

Cheshire Police said today that the student was discharged from hospital on Friday.

Chief Inspector Richard Rees said: “I would like to reassure people that this appears to be an isolated incident.

“The investigation is continuing and enquiries are ongoing.”

Riverside College deputy principal Thalia Bell said: “An incident occurred at our Kingsway campus in which one of our students was injured.

“We are currently supporting the police with their enquiries.

“The college is operating as normal and we are providing full support to our staff and students.”
