ICE hockey player and hit TV star Jesse McClure is skating back to Widnes.

The celebrity, who shot to fame in the US reality show Storage Hunters, is lacing up his skates for a charity ice hockey game at Silver Blades ice rink.

The match is in aid of the Cathie Stankevitch Foundation, launched by former Vikings rugby star John Stankevitch in memory of his mum.

Cathie, 54, was tragically killed by an out of control van while out walking her puppies along Hough Green Road last September.

Dad-of-three John, 35, has channelled all his time and energy into setting up the charity to give disadvantaged children the chance to participate in sport.

Jesse, who has launched a new series British Treasure, American Gold, will be on the all star select team at the match at 5.30pm on Sunday, December 18.

Guest players will include past and present coaches, fellow players and coaches from other teams and the Widnes Wild mascot - Pukka the penguin.

Jesse said: "I had an amazing time last year at Silver Blades Widnes with all the players and fans alike.

“I was given an incredibly warm welcome and it's awesome to be able to raise money for a great cause.

“I can't wait to be back in Widnes to play some more hockey."

Widnes Wild general Manger Jon Anderson said: "I'm really looking forward to this year's Widnes Wild v all stars' winter classic charity game.

"It's great to have Jesse back with us. He was a huge hit with the fans at last year's memorial game and he is an excellent addition to this year's all star roster."
