THREE  teenagers have been charged after a boy was left with serious injuries following a suspected stabbing at a college in Widnes.

Police confirmed today that the 17-year-olds have been charged with a range of offences following an alleged attack in a classroom at Riverside College.

One boy has been charged with wounding with intent and resisting arrest while the other two face charges for wounding with intent and possessing a bladed article.

All three have been remanded in custody.

The charges relate to an incident at 1.45pm on Wednesday when police received reports of a disturbance at Riverside College in Kingsway.

Officers found a 17-year-old student with serious injuries.

He was taken to Aintree Hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

Chief Inspector Richard Rees said: “I would like to reassure people that this appears to be an isolated incident."

Riverside College deputy principal Thalia Bell said: “An incident occurred at our Kingsway campus in which one of our students was injured.

“We are currently supporting the police with their enquiries.

“The college is operating as normal and we are providing full support to our staff and students.”
