A THIRD teenager has been arrested after a boy was left with serious injuries following a suspected stabbing at a college in Widnes.

Police have confirmed that the 17-year-old was arrested this afternoon on suspicion of affray and is currently in custody.

Two other teenagers, both aged 17, were arrested yesterday, Wednesday, on suspicion of section 18 assault and remain in custody where they are continuing to help police with their enquiries.

Police were called to Riverside College on Kingsway at 1.45pm yesterday after receiving reports of a disturbance.

Officers found a 17-year-old student with serious injuries and he was taken to Aintree Hospital where he is described as ‘still serious’.

Chief Inspector Richard Rees said: “I would like to reassure people that this appears to be an isolated incident.

“The investigation is continuing and enquiries are ongoing.”

Riverside College deputy principal Thalia Bell said: “An incident occurred at our Kingsway campus in which one of our students was injured.

“We are currently supporting the police with their enquiries.

“The college is operating as normal and we are providing full support to our staff and students.”
