A WIDNES-based care home which supports people with complex learning disabilities has been named as a finalist in the Laing Buisson Awards in the specialist care category.
Glenwood Care Home, which is part of national social care charity Community Integrated Care, supports ten people with complex learning and physical disabilities.
Karen Hayes, service manager, said: "It was a huge shock to be nominated and I’m so proud of all the hard work our staff have done and continue to do to improve the lives of the people we support.
“We have had incredible opportunities this year.
"Our residents’ heroes at Widnes Vikings have visited our home, they’ve had VIP treatment at match days and other events."
