CELEBRATIONS are in order after a talented beauty student won a bronze medal at the World Skills UK national finals in Birmingham.

Student Caitlin Fairbrother, who previously attended Wade Deacon High School, got through to the finals of the competition after she won a gold medal at the regional heats earlier this year.

After finding out she had secured a place in the finals Caitlin with the help of her college tutors continued to work hard and put in extra hours to prepare and perfect her treatments.

Everyone who competed in the competition had to perform different tasks over the course of two days.

The tasks included facials, manicure and pedicure, eye treatments, waxing and make-up.

All tasks were completed in front of five respected judges and thousands of spectators.

Caitlin received the bronze medal as the judges said she demonstrated outstanding skills during all her treatments.

Head of the centre of excellence in hair and beauty at Riverside College said: “We are extremely proud of Caitlin and her splendid and well deserved medal.

“Not only did she have the opportunity to demonstrate the high level of skills she has learnt over the last few years at the college by reaching the finals of the World Skills UK competition but she has also inspired future students with her hard work and dedication.

“She is a great ambassador for Riverside College and has a great future ahead of her.”
