CHILDREN had fun learning high five netball, a new form of the game.
Teams competed in the Runcorn primary school games at The Heath School.
Pupils learnt how to develop their team work, tactical and playing skills in a fun but competitive environment.
Halton school games organiser Karen Drake said: “High five can be for mixed or single-sex teams and is a great way for children to get active, enjoy themselves and make new friends.
“A key part of high five is players rotating round positions. This means that all young people get to experience every position on court and makes for more adaptable players as they develop and get older.”
Netball leaders at The Heath umpired the matches.
Winners Beechwood, who were undefeated throughout the competition, will represent Halton at the Merseyside School Games High 5 netball in summer 2017.
Pewithall were runners up. Halton Lodge, St Mary’s, Gorsewood and Hill View took part in the round robin contest.
Every pupil received a certificate and winners and runners up were presented with medals and a trophy.
