A CANCER scare prompted a Runcorn gran to host a charity night.
Mum-of-four Lorraine Meadwell raised £225 for breast cancer.
The 50-year-old organised a family fun evening at Runcorn Conservative Club on Balfour Street on Friday.
“I want to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for such a good night,” said Lorraine, from Palacefields.
“I had a scare this year. I found a lump in my breast, had it checked out and luckily it was a cyst.
“Now I want to give something back.”
Halton Zipper Club donated £60 and Accessories For You, Becky’s Cakes and Cash Concerts supplied prizes.
Singer John Rhodes donated his time and organised a karaoke.
“It was absolutely fantastic,” added Lorraine. "We had a great laugh.
“I want to thank everyone who donated prizes, all the staff at the Conservative Club and everyone who came along and supported me.
“We made people aware of breast cancer.
“I’m hoping to do it all again next year.”
