A SCHEME that has saved householders more than £1 million on their fuel bills has been extended.

Residents now have until Monday, October 31 to register for the Merseyside Collective Switch.

People have seen their energy costs cut by an average of £311.

Collective switching works by asking people to register their interest then uses collective buying power to negotiate exclusive tariffs from energy suppliers.

More than 7,000 people took part in the last round in March.

The scheme aims to make it easier to switch supplier, and advisors are on hand to offer free and impartial help every step of the way.

It’s free to join and there is no obligation to switch once the offers are released.

Hayley McCann, 25, from Widnes, who saved £448, said: “We had moved into a new property and needed to find a supplier.

“I’d never switched before but by registering for the collective switch the process was easy.”

Halton Council leader Cllr Rob Polhill, said: "This is a great deal for residents in these days of austerity.

“I would encourage everyone to take advantage of the offer and save cash."
