DETECTIVES today released CCTV images of a man they wish to speak following a serious assault in Widnes.
Police say a 29-year-old man from Runcorn had been in an altercation with two women in a pub on Gerrard Street which continued outside.
An unknown man then approached the victim from behind and punched him causing a facial injury.
PC Jamie Simmons said: “The offender who wasn’t known to the victim waded into an argument between the victim, his partner and two women causing a serious injury to his head which required medical treatment.”
Detectives say the assault happened on Saturday, September 3 between 12.55am and 1.10am.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Police on 101 quoting incident number 70 of 3 September 2016.
