THOUSANDS of visitors flocked to Widnes for the annual north west vintage rally at the weekend.

The largest free two day show of its kind attracted families from miles around.

A new layout at the showground made space for lots of new activities.

Panto stars staging Cinderella at The Brindley over Christmas roamed round in costume.

Miss British Isles Becky Lake, who plays Cinderella and Christopher Pym, Prince Charming enjoyed rides on the vintage fairground as they met the crowd.

Halton Cllr Eddie Jones, board member for events, said: "The rally continues to be an event that the borough can be proud of.

“It is unique across the entire country and its 16th visit to Victoria Park was a great success as the event continues to go from strength to strength."

Proud owners who painstakingly restored classic vehicles chatted to visitors about their passion

Vintage fair organs and hand turned organs were also on display.

The H&M dog display team and Vale Royal Falconry demonstrated the skills of well-trained animals and birds.

There were also performances from Halton’s Got Talent finalist Charlotte Coddack, Pauline Reader dancers and Widnes Martial Arts.

Craftsmen and women showed off their collections and there was an array of charity and trade stalls.

Halton foster carers helped staff meet potential recruits as they spoke about the benefits of fostering.

Halton’s health improvement team was on hand to offer practical help and advice.

A free vintage bus gave visitors the chance to travel back in time as it provided transport to and from the showground.
