MY partner and I bought our first home in Halton Village and have had such a bad experience that we are already making plans to move out.

The litter and rubbish situation is something I have never seen before.

Trolleys, fly-tipping, beer cans and rubbish bags scattered all over the place and bins full to the brim as well as graffiti everywhere.

The Town Park is absolutely awful.

The scale of the rubbish is so bad that it would literally take a huge scale operation to clear it.

Halton Village is supposed to be a conservation area. It’s so beautiful but it’s being completely wrecked.

Halton Council doesn’t seem to care. Every time I call the council they say they don’t have the funds to sort out the litter situation.

What am I paying council tax for?

This problem is putting off young professionals from moving in. It’s forcing us to relocate.

If this carries on Halton Village will be totally ruined.

If Halton Council wants to attract decent and hardworking people it needs to start taking some pride in its appearance.

A Halton Council spokesman said: “The council does care about the environment and a significant amount of money is spent on trying to keep it clean.

“We do have limited resources and our budgets continue to be reduced.

“Halton Village is cleaned every two weeks.

“Dropping litter and fly-tipping is an offence. Enforcement officers carry out regular patrols.

“So far this year the council has prosecuted more than 120 people and issued over 700 fixed penalty notices for littering offences.

“The council does not cause littering and fly-tipping problems but does all it can to prevent them and tackle those responsible.

"We would encourage residents who have information about fly-tipping to call 0303 333 4300.”
