A RUNCORN animal lover is a finalist in the 2016 Enterprise Vision Awards in the new business category after being anonymously nominated for her compassionate work in pet care.

Entrepreneur Amy Peters, 35, from Sandymoor set up Creature Comforts Cheshire with business partner Gemma McKnight, 34, from the Town Hall estate Runcorn, in April 2015.

The team of seven pet carers, dog walkers, and home boarder take care of all kinds of animals from dogs and cats to ferrets, lizards and many more.

Originally from Moore, Amy grew up on a farm and as a child helped care for many animals.

The pet carer was also a self-employed dog walker for a year before starting the business.

This influenced her passion for animal care.

Amy registered her Australian labradoodle Muttley as a therapy dog for Pets As Therapy and raised more than £900 for the charity by swimming across the English Channel last year.

Nominations for these awards are anonymous.

As part of the competition Amy gave a five minute presentation at Blackpool Football Club explaining how Creature Comforts Cheshire contributes to the community.

The 35-year-old said: “I was shocked, honoured and humbled to be nominated and selected as a finalist for this award.

“In order to win we now need people to vote for us.

“We offer a diverse range of services including ancestral canine speciality dog food, pet sitting and pack walks.

“We work with clients whose animals have specific or acute specialist requirements.”

Amy has two dogs, Muttley, an American labradoodle and Rogue, a Russian terrier.

People can vote online at enterprisevisionawards.co.uk until September 9.

The winner will be announced at a gala dinner in Blackpool on September 23.
