FOR the fourth year running, students at Ormiston Bolingbroke Academy (OBA) are celebrating another set of GCSE results which are above the national average.

Students could breathe a sigh of relief as 84 per cent of students gained a grade A* to C in English and 67 per cent in maths.

It was also revealed that 63 per cent of OBA’s year 11s achieved one of the top grades in both subjects and nearly three quarters achieved five high GCSE grades. Almost 50 per cent of students gained one or more A* and A grades and more than two thirds of students achieved the highest grades across all subjects.

Achieving eleven A* and A grades were Ellie Mogg and Sarah Taylor while Emma Bygrave and Niamh Allanson and Carrie Clarke each secured ten A* and As.

Principal Mark Wyss said the results represented the hard work of students.

He said: “They should be very proud of their tremendous achievements.

"They attended so many extra lessons after school and at weekends to ensure the very best results possible.

"I would like to congratulate each and every one of them for all the effort they put in to secure such brilliant grades."

John Rigby, executive principal, added: “We are now looking forward to the vast majority of this cohort continuing their studies with us in the sixth form.

We are all very proud of what they have achieved, but I am confident they have many further successes ahead of them and they will be receiving more congratulations in another couple of years.”
