A SPATE of arson attacks in Runcorn are under investigation by detectives at Cheshire Police.

Enquiries are ongoing after emergency services were called out to a series of fires in recent nights.
The first incident took place on Tuesday, August 23, at 11.20pm near to the shops on Halton Brook Avenue. 

It is believed a group of five youths, who were all riding bicycles and wearing shorts, managed to set fire to one of the wooden fence posts on the roadway. 

Two of the suspects are thought to have had long hair. 
 

Another incident occurred at around 1.40am on Wednesday, August 24, outside a block of flats on Sycamore Road. 
It is thought that items of furniture were placed against the exterior side wall and deliberately set alight, causing damage to the brickwork.

A third incident took place at around 1.50am on Wednesday, August 24, on Thorn Road as several garages were set on fire, causing significant damage to four of them. 

 A Cheshire Police spokesman: said: “We are not ruling out the possibility that these incidents could be linked. 

This sort of crime is extremely dangerous and unacceptable and could result in serious injury or worse. They also take up a lot of valuable time and resources.
