HUNDREDS of butterflies were released within the grounds of Halton Haven Hospice in memory of those who have died.

A total of 300 butterflies caused a flutter at the home, which provides support to patients and their families.

Head of fundraising, Paula Mullin said: “This event has become as popular as our December Light up a Life service and is a unique opportunity for people to remember and honour loved ones by releasing a butterfly in their memory.

“We luckily got lovely weather this year and everyone who attended made the day so special through sharing their memories of loved ones, enjoying the live music and enjoying a cup of tea and cake prior to releasing their butterflies.”

Over the last 30 years the hospice has looked after thousands of people with life-limiting illnesses.
