AN uncle and nephew will dress up in pink tutus to hit great heights as part of a charity challenge.

David Ash and Chris Riley, known as Team 1 Step, are attempting to climb the equivalent of Mount Everest on a Matrix C5x ClimbMill at Pure Gym in Runcorn on September 3 to 4.

The double act plan to complete the climb in just 24 hours, equating to 58,058 feet, along with other willing members.

In preparation for a real-life climb of Mount Kilimanjaro in September 2017, Expedition Everest is the first of several challenges that has been organised by the two relatives.

Chris, 32, said: “Too many, too often and for too long have we and those around us been affected by cancer and we’re simply trying to make a difference to that in the best way we know how.

“We rise to these challenges not because they are easy but because they are hard.

“We’re taking on the Expedition Everest challenge to raise of awareness and funds towards our greater goal next year.”

Head of communications, Janine Heath, said: “Matrix is proud to spread the word of this fantastic challenge to help raise funds and support Team 1 Step.

“We wish everyone taking part in Expedition Everest lots of luck and hope the ClimbMill is kind to them.”

The duo aim to summit the mountain having raised a pound for every foot of Mount Kilimanjaro, which equals to £19,341.
