STAFF were held up at gunpoint after two masked men stormed a shop in Widnes to steal cash.

At 9.30pm on Saturday, August 20, two men entered a store on Ditchfield Road.

Once inside one of the men assaulted a staff member before climbing over the counter and emptying the till while threatening staff with what is believed to be a hand gun.

The other man entered via a side door where he stole a quantity of cash before both men left the shop heading towards Canterbury Road.

Both men are described as white, one of medium build and the other of a stocky build.

Detective constable Tina Jackson said: “We are currently following a number of lines of enquiries and I’m extremely keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident take place, or who knows the identity of the offenders."
