A CONSTRUCTION company has donated time and materials to overhaul a car park at a redeveloped Runcorn tourist attraction.

A £4.5 million Monastery to Museum project will see a new interactive exhibition interpret the site’s ancient history at Norton Priory.

After being closed for a year for extensive renovation, a new state-of-the-art development re-opens on Saturday, August 6.

Builder and developer Seddon worked with Halton Housing Trust, which has chosen Norton Priory as its charity of the year.

A team of employees volunteered to level uneven ground and lay 140 tonnes of gravel ready for new visitors.

Jason McGee, Seddon’s regional construction manager for the north west, said: “We were more than happy to help the trust’s charitable work and volunteer our time and resources to support this much-loved north west visitor attraction.”

Vikki Mack, who leads the trust’s charity work, said: “We were delighted when Seddon agreed to support our nominated charity and the results have been fantastic.

“This is a hugely exciting time for the museum and the car park is one of the final pieces in its jigsaw.”

The redevelopment of the museum has been supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Special events will be held on August 13 and 14 with fun family activities to celebrate the re-opening of the museum.
