PLACING a teddy bear on every seat at Halton Security Stadium – all 13,350 of them – may seem like a daunting challenge.

But Widnes schoolboy Aidan Jackson is determined to fulfil his goal.

With just two weeks to go, the 14-year-old has only managed to collect 3,000 cuddly toys and £1,000.

Aidan, who has difficulty walking and faces surgery, is making a last minute appeal for teddies.

The Ormiston Chadwick Academy pupil has already raised £6,500 from various other events for the Olivia Alice Foundation set up in memory of his friend, 15-year-old Olivia Walker who had complex disabilities and died last year.

The charity supports disabled children and their families.

Mum Caroline, 44, of Francis Close, Ditton, said: “In true Aidan style he is still going for it even though he is not too good.

“He has muscle weakness in his back and legs and is facing surgery on both legs.”

Schoolchildren from Pewithall, Daresbury, Halebank, Halton Lodge and Our Lady’s have donated teddies along with Halton Spartans and Widnes Scooter Club.

To donate teddies e-mail Caroline at caz1971@hotmail.com to arrange collection or drop them off at Your Baby Scan on Birchfield Road, Widnes.
