BRITAIN’S most successful gymnast has inspired Widnes children.

Olympian Beth Tweddle, 31, who retired from the sport in 2013, met 10 budding gymnasts at Moorfield Primary School.

The youngsters performed their routines and asked her lots of questions.

The first female gymnast to win a medal at the European Championships, World Championships and Olympic Games was asked about her ambition, her proudest achievement and favourite medal.

Beth competed in three Olympics winning bronze in London.

Head teacher Andy Williams said: “It was so good of Beth to take time out to come into school and see the children exhibiting their gymnastic prowess.

“The children were all really excited.

“I’m sure that Beth’s visit will inspire them to carry on with the sport and give them the aspiration to replicate her phenomenal success.”

Gymnasts Grace Pugh-Jones, Grace Quinn, Kacie O’Neill, Amy McMahon, Eve Pugh-Jones, Charley Jones, Sonny McLean, Jessie McLean, Olivia Lawrenson and Beth Quinn demonstrated their skills in a special display.
