HALTON Council’s Brindley Theatre has won a top commendation from the world’s largest travel site.

The Runcorn arts venue which opened in 2004 has received a TripAdvisor certificate of excellence.

The achievement celebrates hospitality businesses and venues which have earned great traveller reviews over the past year.

Halton Cllr Phil Harris, board member for the arts, said: "This shows the venue is rated highly by the actual people who use it.

“It remains a jewel in Halton's crown."

Certificate of excellence recipients include places of accommodation, eateries and attractions all over the world that have continually delivered a quality customer experience.

Heather Leisman, TripAdvisor vice president of industry marketing, said: "With the certificate of excellence, TripAdvisor honours hospitality businesses that have consistently received strong praise and ratings from travellers.”

To qualify a business must maintain an overall TripAdvisor rating of at least four out of five, have a minimum number of reviews and must have been listed on the site for at least 12 months.
